Success by doing

Sometimes you have to seize opportunities when they present themselves. That's exactly what Jurre did at the age of 19. He dropped out of college and didn't want to sit still. In December 2020, he got an opportunity at Titan. What started with cleaning up the workshop and doing chores soon grew into much more. At Titan, Jurre discovered that engineering suited him and his interest in it grew. With the guidance of Nico, head of the business office, he developed quickly. His activities changed to assembly and tinkering with products such as steam peelers and magma traps. The profession turned out to be more fun than he had ever imagined.
Over time, Jurre specialized further. He learned to weld and followed a BBL path in which working and learning were central. During this period, the focus was on tinkering and assembling equipment construction. Jurre was regularly on the road and worked closely with other young colleagues. For three years he combined his work as a welder with his training, which laid a solid foundation for his current position as a work planner. About this he says: "It is nice that in work preparation I work with products that I have welded or tinkered with myself. As a result, I know the equipment inside out." He enjoys seeing how a well-prepared process leads to a smoothly running workshop and products delivered on time. That sense of appreciation makes the work extra valuable.
In his current role, Jurre works with a young team, where a good atmosphere and fun are key. "A young team is nice, we have fun together and that makes the work fun," he says. Still, he remains ambitious and curious. "I want to learn more about other products of the company. There is so much to discover here and the opportunities are there. If you indicate that you want to continue learning, it's really listened to." At Titan, success is not a matter of luck, but of taking chances and doing it.
